I have worked with children in schools for the last 30 years and I wanted to be able to combine my love of art with helping support vulnerable youngsters. I decided to study a Masters Art Psychotherapy degree where I could combine my artistic expertise with supporting children and adults with an array of mental health issues including autism.
It is important to me that I offer all my clients a safe and confidential space and that I have a wide range of art materials that they can use to explore their own thoughts and feelings. My practise is underpinned by psychodynamic principles and attachment theories and is client led.
My experience involves working individually with children and adolescents in school and in private practise, where I also see adult trainee therapists and offer art therapy supervision. I also offer art therapy wellbeing group sessions to colleges and organisations.
I have worked with anxiety, eating disorder, ADHD and ASD as well as bereavement, trauma and low self-esteem. I believe playful creativity and art making can help people explore themselves and their experiences in a kind non-threatening way.
