Art Therapy can help children and adults with emotional issues such as bereavement and loss, as well as those with anxiety, depression and specific mental health problems, learning disabilities, ASD, ADHD, dementia, or chronic/terminal illness. It can also support victims of trauma and abuse.
Some people simply use art therapy as a way of exploring themselves in a non-judgmental space while extending their creativity. It is also helpful for enhancing wellbeing.
We provide individual art therapy and also group art therapy when this is commissioned by an organisation.
Individual Art Therapy usually takes place once a week at the same time with the same Art Therapist. Sessions are between 50-60 minutes long and may continue for several weeks or for a year or more. We also provide therapy for trainee therapists.
Art therapy groups in schools offer an opportunity for children who are experiencing particular difficulties to be referred by staff in consultation with parents/carers. The focus for referral may be on behaviour, relationships, learning issues or specific emotional challenges.
Adult groups can either be attended consistently over a period of weeks or with optional attendance as agreed at the start. Groups can run for 8-12 weeks or can be a one-off session or an introductory event. The use of art materials alongside others and reflecting on the outcomes together provides a calming and supportive way of sharing feelings and ideas, contributing to wellbeing.
Online art therapy is also available. Please see our page on this.
Supervision for practising therapist and trainee can be provided face to face or online.
Fees for our services An Art Therapy session will be charged at £60 for a 50-60 minute session. Concessions are available and can be discussed with your therapist.
