Working as an Artist for many years as well as working with vulnerable people, I wanted to combine my interests by becoming an Art Therapist. I graduated with an MA in Art Psychotherapy in July 2018.
My placement experience was varied with two placements in the NHS; one working with Adults and the other in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). While my other placement was with a charity working in primary schools. My previous experience includes several years working with adults with brain injuries.
I find the humanistic model based on Carl Rogers’ person-centred theories helped to clarify my thoughts of a more client focused approach, and I am interested in how a person-centred approach with Children and Adolescents can be used in combination with Art Therapy.
